Flickr lets kids look at hardcore porn and their policies are bullshit

Flickr.com terminated my account and the only vague reason I was given was that some of the images in my account may have not belonged to me. First off, chances are that if you have a flickr account you have at least one image in your account that does not "belong" to you.

Flickr.com likes to defend their censorship actions by stating that they are maintaining a "safe" community for everyone. This is total bullshit. Allow me to prove it.

The following was conducted as an experiment and to prove that the "flickereenos", as those self righteous nazis like to call themselves, are full of shit.

HEY KIDS, WANT TO SEE NUDITY AND HARDCORE PORNOGRAPHY FOR FREE?

Well flickr.com has all you could want. And you don't have to be of legal age to view any of it!!

Step 1 - Sign up for a Yahoo mail account. Put anything you want in the information you have to fill out, just be sure under your birth date to pick one that makes you over 18.

Step 2 - After creating a Yahoo account go to flickr.com and click on Create Account. All you are asked for is to enter your password again. That's it.

Step 3 - Go to the Your Account option, click on Privacy and Permissions and scroll down until you see the Search Settings. Click edit and change the setting to Safe Search Off. You're 18 right? -wink, wink- Sure you are.

Step 4 - Type in any filthy little thing your mind can dream of in the search bar and off you go...

** This entire process took me exactly 4 minutes and 38 seconds, and I'm a slow typer. I made up 100% of the info I was asked for.

For a search I typed in "ass fuck" which brought up 8,258 results. The 4th image down on the first page was a black man with a dildo up his ass.

The 5th image down was the following:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hgoku/2296871404/

I found this one particularly interesting because I recognize the image as one that I had in my favorites back when I had an account. What's interesting is that this image does not belong to this user but to the actual photographer that posted it in his account on flickr. Unfortunately I don't remember his name. So right off the bat this image has been "stolen" from another photographer on flickr.

*** Violation # 1

Don’t upload anything that isn't yours.
This includes other people's photos, video and/or stuff you've collected from around the Internet. Accounts that consist primarily of such collections may be terminated at any time.

Then right under this photo and all over this account is a link to a Desktop Stripper website http://www46.virtuagirlhd.com/us/ Ok, isn't this promoting another unrelated business?

*** Violation # 2

Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes.
Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account.

This image has been viewed 623 times and is listed as "public".

*** NEXT CASE ***

The above search was under results by "Most Relevant".
I then changed it to "Most Interesting"

The 9th image down on the first page was the following:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jills_cuckold/2193310801/

Ok, this is a Pro account full of images of fat gay men having sex. It's about as hardcore as it gets.

The above image is also marked "public" and has been viewed 1886 times.

*** Now I'm not against pornography at all but I am against total random acts of censorship and a faceless corporation taking my money and then deleting an account I spent over a years worth of work on for a total bullshit reason.

But remember, as their cute little logo lets you know.... flickr loves you.

Spot on!

May I also add you could do a simple search for a word like...ah, flower. And what do the results produce? A stupid bouquet? No.

PURE PORN!

I,too, am not against pornography but really there should be a way to separate the seediness from the artfulness. Also, how many women...dainty,Neko Case lovin', law-abiding, cupcake baking, crafty women (and even some square-jawed, straight as an arrow men) are being cruised and/or harassed on flickr and those preditors accounts are not snatched away a.s.a.p.? How many times have I had to sit down in front of this computer and block a photograph of me or something I took myself for it has been "favored" by the man with 8,000 hairy, oiled up leather men sitting on a toilet with an erect penis in hand? (But, really...who doesn't enjoy that type of thing?)

Many folks are hocking their wears on flickr too.

Case en point, my husband + I are relocating to Georgia later this summer. We are looking to rent a place. I posted an add on CRAIGSLIST (seeking housing). We received a response where the real estate agent has all of the properties he is selling/renting listed on a flickr account!

Huh?!

This is not new. A great many are breaking rules: left, right, up and down...and their account remains.

I know the whole flickr let's kids see porn argument is kinda lame, kids can see free porn so many other places after all, but I was angry. I still am but I've lost steam in this fight. It's pointless anyway. The best I could hope for is an apology and reinstatement of my account but screw that. To hell with flickr I say! I'm on Blogger now!

My actual Blogger thing that I'm still getting started is at:

http://fromhellitcame.blogspot.com/

Check it out! Good to hear from some of my old flickr friends.

So you guys are moving to Georgia? I'm sorry. Ha, just kidding... well kinda. What part of the state are you moving to? Anywhere near Atlanta? That's where we live, well Hapeville (which I like to call Hateville) but it's basically the same thing.

Oh and I also got tired of the guys who would favorite one of my photos and then when I went to their account it would be some bear who also just happened to like Frankenstein or something.
